Rule of Satan

I have a new book idea: imagine an alternative reality in which Satan rules over the Earth.

He puts humans in the way of pestilence, famine, earthquakes, drought, and winter, just for the dark pleasure of it. He could have chosen any kind of reality for them, but this is the one that amuses him the most.

Because he is a narcissist, he needs people to worship him. Because he is a liar, he tells people that he is the good god, and therefore deserves to be worshipped. He does evil, yes, but only in the name of good. He torments and kills only to prevent unauthorised torment and killing. Since this is not convincing to most people, he must convince by tormenting and killing his critics. After his critics have been silenced one way or another, there is no more controversy about his claim: he is good.

According to Satan, there is a second god lurking around — the evil god — who doesn’t seem to do much evil other than convincing people to seek knowledge and to be disobedient to Satan, the good god.

What a horrible alternate reality. Well, let’s not think about that any more.
